African Array hostel and backpackers Lodge was started in 2012 and is a family run backpackers which is among the top hostels on the Garden Route. Located in the Ladywood forest in Plettenberg Bay off the N2 onto a country road on top of a forested hillside.

We employ local staff and complement our employment role with some foreign volunteers. Our long term volunteers have the option to work helping out with front desk duties as a means of positive first world influence and assistance to our local staff compliment.
The owners, Matthew & Vicky, with a background in hospitality has kept African Array Lodge in a state of constant evolution. It is for this reason that our staff have developed their skills from gardening and basic housekeeping to computer, management, tour guiding and building skills.
